Визначаємо вагу, статус та ієрархію сем у дефініції безжальності (таблиця 3).

 

 

Домінантними семами лексеми pitilessness є showing, cruel, no pity. Безжальність пов’язана S3 відсутністю афективної емпатії:

“The green rings draw you back”. “But Polly hasn't got a green ring”. “No”, said Uncle Andrew with a cruel smile. “Then she cant get back”, shouted Digory. “And it’s exactly the same as if you'd murdered her” [12].

Cruel, pitiless boy! you would let your own Mother die rather than [12].

У прикладах (8-9) безжальність виражають прикметники cruel і pitiless.

У визначенні tactlessness домінантними семами є upset та others. Однак актуалізація сем doing і saying є обов’язковою, хоча вони мають малу вагу у визначенні.

There was no point in worrying Mrs. Dursley; she always got so upset at any mention of her sister [17, с. 5].

“Oh, no, Peeves, don't tell her what I said, she'll be really upset”, Hermione whispered frantically. “I didn't mean it, I don't mind her – er, hello, Myrtle”. “I wish people would stop talking behind my back! ” said Myrtle, in a voice choked with tears. “I do have feelings, you know, even if I am dead” – “Myrtle, no one wants to upset you”, said Hermione [18, с. 134].

Harry awoke very suddenly on Christmas Day. Wondering what had caused his abrupt return to consciousness, he opened his eyes, and saw something with very large, round, green eyes staring back at him in the darkness, so close they were almost nose to nose. “Dobby! ” Harry yelled, scrambling away from the elf so fast he almostfell out of bed «Don t do that!» Harry turned back to Dobby, who was now standing nervously next to Harry’s bed, still looking worried that he had upset Harry [19, c. 407].

У прикладах (10-12) прикметник upset указує на стан, що виникає внаслідок безтактного зауваження чи вчинку (mention of her sister, what I said, don’t do that). Отже, безтактність зараховуємо до активних виявів негативного полюсу когнітивної емпатії.

Далі визначаємо домінантні семи антоніма співчуття – не- милосердності (таблиця 5).

 

 

Домінантними семами лексеми mercilessness є showing, no mercy та cruel. Семи very й severe вказують на вищий ступінь вияву ознаки. Семи behavior і actions вказують на активність.

When Peter suddenly asked him the question he decided all at once to do the meanest and most spiteful thing he could think of. He decided to let Lucy down [12].

Ron retaliated by doing a cruel but accurate impression of Hermione jumping up and down in her seat every time Professor McGonagall asked a question, which Lavender and Parvati found deeply amusing and which reduced Hermione to the verge of tears again [20, с. 310].

У прикладах (13-14) немилосердність виражають прикметник cruel, найвищі ступені порівняння його синонімів mean і spiteful та дієслово to do. Немилосердність як відсутність співчуття зараховуємо до негативного полюсу афективної емпатії.

У списку слів, пов’язаних із лексемою mercilessness, знаходимо bullying. Булінг, цькування, визначається як систематична та навмисна агресивна поведінка, спрямована на залякування чи завдання шкоди [14, с. 793]. Результати компонентного аналізу bullying подано в таблиці 6.

 

 

У визначенні лексеми bullying домінантними семами є frighten, hurt, somebody, strength та intimidate.

Dudley’s favorite punching bag was Harry, but he couldn’t often catch him [17, с. 20].
